Here are some recommendations from your #JashanmalFam
📌 Istanbul, Turkey
“There are three major places that I love in Turkey – Istiklal Street, Haghia Sophia, and Ortaköy. Istiklal is full of local restaurants and always buzzing with people and artists. Overall, the whole city has an amazing vibe with a perfect cultural mix which is awesome for solo travelers like me.
Istanbul is heaven for food lovers. They have the best desserts and kebabs. A must-visit for a taste of delightful baklava is Hafiz Mustafa. For a great shopping experience, Grand Bazaar is the best place to check out. Try to book an evening cruise on the Bosporus river to see the beautiful city light up in the dark. And oh, don’t forget to buy the famous Turkish handmade ceramics before you go home.”
📌 Gabala, Azerbaijan
“I traveled to Azerbaijan with my family during winter. We spent most of our time in Gabala, 200 km away from the capital city. We enjoyed the panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains especially when we took a cable car. After that, we indulged in local cuisine which was an amazing experience.
Getting around the city is easy and affordable, but here’s one advice I’d give – take the airport taxi instead of the local one to avoid huge charges!
📌 Amman, Jordan
“The city is brimming with historical sites and vibrant culture which made it one of my most unforgettable trips with my family. My favorite spots include the Dead Sea, Jerash, and old Amman!
For activities, I recommend going for a hot air balloon ride over Wadi Rum desert, Ma'in Hot Springs, and a tour in the old town. For foodies, make sure not to miss jameed, musakhan, hummus, falafel, and kunafa!”
📌 Muscat, Oman
“There are two things that I undoubtedly enjoyed about Oman – food and weather that remind me of home! The country offers mouth-watering dishes, but I would really recommend trying barbecue chicken, various meat choices, and scented rice.
Activities are best explored by foot, so it would be awesome to leave a bit of spontaneity to your itinerary.”
📌 Negombo, Sri Lanka
“When my husband and I were looking for a destination close to Dubai with great food, beach, and culture, Sri Lanka seemed like a great option. We stayed in one of the resorts in Negombo where we enjoyed the picturesque view of Waikkal. From there, we traveled to Kandy to visit Sri Dalada Maligawa (home of the sacred tooth relic of Buddha) and Royal Botanical Gardens. On our way back, we also dropped by Embillmeegama Tea Factory for a warm cup of tea.
If you’re planning to visit Sri Lanka, don’t forget to try fresh seafood and their delish street food – kottu!”
📌 Cairo, Egypt
“As a solo traveler, I always look for a city filled with rich history and delicious cuisine. When I went to Egypt, I made sure to visit the pyramids in Giza and relax along the shorelines of El Gouna.
I recommend visiting the coastal area of Egypt, which is amazing apart from the tourist spots. And never leave Egypt without trying their version of falafel and a bowl of tasty koshary!”
📌 Malé, Maldives
“I spent a few days with my family in Gili Lankanfushi, Maldives. We stayed in one of the overwater villas with an unending view of the sparkling turquoise lagoon and powdery white sand. It was amazing – nothing else on the island besides the resort. Aside from the pristine natural surroundings of the island, food is exquisite too. You should try the fresh seafood served hot off the grill!
Don’t forget to squeeze in scuba diving, snorkeling, and sailing with your entire family to cap off your experience in Maldives.”
